A new power plant was commissioned in the Central African Republic
The President of the Central African Republic (CAR), Faustin-Archange Touadera, inaugurated the first stage of the Sakai-2 solar power plant with a capacity of 65 MW in Bimbo, near Bangui.
The construction of the facility cost 50 billion CFA francs (about $90 million), and was funded by Global South Utility Power Enterprises Investment from the United Arab Emirates.
At the initial stage, the power plant will generate 15 MW of electricity, and after it reaches a production capacity of 65 MW, it will be able to provide electricity to up to 300,000 households in the capital and its surroundings.
