A new generation underwater cable system has been launched in Africa

The 2Africa underwater cable system, the world's largest open access underwater cable, has been commissioned in Africa. The length of the cable is about 45,000 kilometers, connecting more than 46 landing points in 33 countries in Africa, Europe and Asia.
The 2Africa underwater cable system is a new generation network providing enhanced broadband bandwidth and redundancy. The design bandwidth of 180 Tbps allows simultaneous support of millions of high-definition video streams, cloud services, corporate networks and other applications that require large amounts of data.
2Africa can provide Internet connectivity to more than 3 billion people worldwide, including 1.4 billion people in Africa, which will transform the continent from a simple transit corridor into a strategic hub for global Internet traffic.
2Africa can increase Africa's GDP by between $26.2 billion and $36.9 billion over two to three years, which is approximately 0.42 to 0.58 percent of the continent's GDP at purchasing power parity.
