A network of the continent's chief economists has been launched in Africa
The African Development Bank, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) presented the ACE Network of African Chief Economists at the 2026 African Economic Conference in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire.
The initiative brings together leading African economists from finance ministries, central banks, development finance institutions, think tanks, universities, and the private sector, and is designed to improve economic policy coordination across the continent.
The platform will facilitate joint research, identify emerging risks, promote policy dialogue, and develop recommendations for African governments on issues such as trade, industrialization, debt, climate finance and macroeconomic stability.
