5 African countries elected to the UN Council

Senegal, Angola, Guinea, Morocco and Eritrea have been elected to the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
The ECOSOC coordinates the work of several UN specialized agencies and plays a central role in discussing issues of financing development, health, combating climate change and access to technology.
The election to the Council of African States strengthens Africa's position in global decision-making processes on sustainable development issues.
