33 companies participate in the tender for the construction of an airport in Ethiopia

Ethiopian Airlines, which is the main contractor for the construction of the new Bishoftu International Airport, conducted a preliminary selection of companies to carry out the main construction works, including the construction of the terminal, airfield, auxiliary and road infrastructure.
The shortlist includes 33 companies and consortia from around the world, including China Communications Construction Company, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, China Road and Bridge Corporation and Beijing Urban Construction Group. The total budget of the project is about 12.5 billion US dollars.
The new international airport will be located about 40-45 kilometers southeast of Addis Ababa, near Bishoftu. Upon completion, the airport will be able to serve up to 110 million passengers per year, while parking will be designed for about 270 aircraft.
