10 African teams will compete at the World Cup

The 2026 FIFA World Cup starts on June 11. The tournament will open with a match between Mexico and South Africa.
Ten teams will represent the continent: Morocco, Senegal, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Cape Verde, South Africa and DR Congo.
The 23rd FIFA World Cup will be held from June 11 to July 19, 2026 in three countries: the USA, Canada and Mexico. For the first time, 48 national teams will participate in the tournament.
